Facebook, which replaced the Windows 10 OSMeta Instagram application with Progressive Web App (PWA) last December, has also activated this change on Instagram. Instagram, which last received a desktop update on July 13, 2018, has started to serve with its new PWA-based version as of today.
With the new update, support for DM (Direct Message) is provided on the desktop. Thus, users are now allowed to access their messages through the desktop application and send messages to the people they want. The update also includes the usual bug fixes and some improvements.
You can now send messages from Instagram's desktop application
By the way, the updates in question are valid for the Instagram application, which you can download for free from the Microsoft Store. Therefore, let us remind you that only Windows 10 users can currently benefit from Instagram's desktop direct message feature.
On the other hand, the transition of the desktop version of Instagram to the PWA base shows that the application will witness many more innovations in the coming days. The application may also support some popular features such as Augmented Reality (AR) camera filters in the future.
